This is the fourth Masterclass to be run as part of the PHM Analyst Academy, entitled “Risk Prediction using Logistic Regression”.
This session will introduce delegates to the theory and practice of risk prediction using logistic regression. Logistic regression is a powerful technique that is used to understand the factors that influence a binary outcome (e.g. whether a patient dies, develops a disease, or is admitted to hospital). The session will provide a practical introduction to the technique with a particular emphasis on using the method to predict the risk of a binary outcome. These risk prediction methods are frequently used to provide insight into a populations future health status, to set (capitated) budgets, and to case-find for preventative and upstream interventions. Delegates will be guided through a number of worked examples and sample r-code to illustrate the methods.
Delegates should be intermediate or confident users of r, r-studio and the tidyverse package and have awareness of the principles of simple linear regression. Delegates should bring their own laptops with r and r-studio installed (further details will be provided after booking).
